Shiatsu, literally "finger
pressure" is a Japanese manual therapy consisting mostly of
compression massage applied to specific points on the body with
the therapists fingers and palms, combined with mobilizing stretches.
Used over precise junctions and movement points of muscles and nerves,
it also encompasses locations and functions of blood vessels, the
digestive and lymphatic systems, organs of the endocrine system,
reflex zones and their relations to internal organs. Shiatsu therapy
helps normalize the balance between elements of the autonomic nervous
system, enhancing the body's self-healing power. |
